Best Speakers For Vinyl 2022

by Michael Dwain

Vinyl sound quality and feel are the epitome for audiophiles who love the warmth in the sound when listening to their favorite records. If you don’t have the right receiver or speakers, the results can be disappointing.

I recently got myself a top-end Technics 1210 turntable that has been known for excellent quality and tracking. But I felt something was off with the sound as I had it connected to my home theater speakers that are pretty decent.

Problems I faced were low-quality sound that forced me to increase the volume levels to hear the record better which picked up unwanted sounds and frequencies.

After a little research on some audiophiles sites, I found the problem was with the passive speakers I was using on my turntable receiver.

I needed powered monitors that amplify the signal and provide excellent quality. I sorted listed a couple that you should definitely check out if you are not happy with your sound quality.

  • Fyne Audio F302
  • Elac – Debut 2.0 B6.2
  • Edifier E2000DB
  • Edifier S1000DB Audiophile Active Bookshelf Speakers
  • Sony SSCS5 3-Way 3-Driver Bookshelf Speaker System
  • Polk Audio T15 100W Home Theater Bookshelf Speakers
  • PreSonus Eris E4.5 2-Way 4.5″ Near Field Studio Monitor
  • Edifier R1280DB

Top 8 Best Speakers for Vinyl

#1 Fyne Audio F302

The set of speakers on my list might not have the stylings of a studio monitor but don’t be fooled by the size and shape, these tower-powered speakers performed exceptionally well and looks sleek and classy.

Fyne is known for high-end products, the F302 justifies that with robust all-round sound with a two-way speaker interface with a rear-ported design that encases a polyester dome tweeter 25mm in size and a 15cm midbass driver that is made from high-quality multi-fiber.

The speakers are worth the price offered with an excellent wooden exterior finish that goes amazingly well with most turntables.

If you aren’t a fan of box-shaped monitors and are looking for a clean classy look to suit your hall or living room. These speakers offer excellent premium sound while keeping it neat and classy.

#2 Elac – Debut 2.0 B6.2

Elac is known for making quality products with an affordable price tag and the Elac Debut 2.0 is one of their best speakers specifically made for turntables to bring out the best sound from your vinyl.

It has a two-way bass-reflex design that provides a frequency response of 44Hz-35000hz which is amazing for the price tag you get them at. The exterior case is wooden giving warmth and boldness to the sounds it picks up from your vinyl.

The midrange might not be the best in its series but it sounds well balanced and good enough for vinyl. Elac has been making exceptional speakers for the past 3 decades and it can be heard clearly with the quality of these speakers.

These speakers are my top recommendations if you’re under a budget and looking for something that does justice to your vinyl collection without making you feel you need to upgrade.

#3 Edifier R2000DB

These powerful powered speakers from Edifier have been voted as one of the best speakers for turntables by many audiophiles. They stand out for their versatile connectivity as it offers high-quality coaxial input/output connections as well as Bluetooth connectivity which is a first for powered standalone speakers.

If the Edifier R2000DB isn’t to your liking these S1000DB might just be the speaker for you, these well-designed speakers are the entry-level units to the premium range of speakers with Edifier. They were mainly designed for gamers to set up at home but these do a great job for your vinyl as well.

The speakers provided high-quality sound and definition with excellent flexible I/O choices. The back of the wooden panel offers RCA, optical or coaxial, and Auxiliary connections making it versatile for anyone to connect to their receiver. If you don’t have a receiver you can directly connect to the speaker using the built-in Bluetooth receiver.

The speakers are designed to work in a 2-way class set up with a 5.5” subwoofer bass driver for tight and robust bass with a 25mm treble driver for lovely crisp highs. The latest onboard DSP helps enhance the sounds even further and works amazingly well with its ported enclosure design.

#5 Sony SSCS5 3-Way 3-Driver Bookshelf Speaker System

If you aren’t a fan of the 2-way designed speakers and want more clarity and sound dispersion. These three-way speakers from Sony are a class above while still keeping it under the $500 mark.

A classic woofer, tweeter, and high tweeter combination drive these speakers to provide excellent and well-defined sound that will recreate the studio-quality you want from your vinyl collection.

The 5.2” woofer driver cone is made of a rigid Mica which is reinforced and mated that helps enhance bass quality and boost the low-end frequencies. A 25mm carefully tuned acoustical tweeters offer an excellent definition of the mid/high frequency adding a sense of warmth and fullness. A 19mm second super tweeter adds shine and crisp to all those old classics you have in your collection.

With a peak RMS of 100 watts, these speakers are all about clarity and refined sound, if you have a three-way design on your mind. These speakers from Sony will do justice.

#6 Polk Audio T15 100 Watt Home Theater Bookshelf Speakers

Polk Audio is known for making premium car audio the same expertise and technology that has been used to make these low-budget two-way bookshelf speakers. The T15s is the brand’s latest addition that has made it to my list for its excellent two-way design sound.

The speakers are installed with a 5.25” coned bass driver and a 0.75 silk dome tweeter that produce a dynamically balanced, well-defined full-range sound. The exterior body is made of high-quality wood with a solid frame to keep things in place and front-firing bass ports for seamless bass.

#8 Edifier R1280DB

These swanky-looking premium speakers from Edifier are the last ones on my list and are an excellent value for money and comparably cheaper than most speakers from Edifier. You can own these impressive speakers for under $200 but what you get is worth way more than that for the features and connectivity these speakers offer.

The speakers accept coaxial inputs, optical cable inputs and it houses a Bluetooth receiver in case you don’t have one, making it incredibly versatile. It is one of the few speakers that use a remote to control its levels making it perfect for a big living space.

It houses a 4” bass driver for smooth low end with a 13mm dome tweeter for crisp highs. If you love bass in your music these might not be the best choice for you as the four-inch driver can’t deliver that punchy bass but if you prefer clean mids with mild low end and crisp high that is what you will get from the R1280DB.
