Best Gaming Webcam for Smart TV’s

#1 — Facebook Portal TV

Best Overall Smart TV Webcam

The Facebook Portal TV comes highly recommended because it’s one of the most easy-to-use TV webcams available. It’s not only easy to set up, but comes loaded with features that allow you to handle video calls on apps such as Facebook and WhatsApp.

The added benefit of owning the Facebook Portal TV is that it’s Alexa enabled so you can control the webcam with your voice and even manage your smart home appliances hands-free.

If you’re concerned about privacy then you can rest assured that you’re safe as this webcam has dedicated buttons to turn off the camera and microphone. There’s even a built-in camera cover that slides over the webcam when it’s not in use.

The Facebook Portal TV has panning and zooming capabilities that automatically activate to get everyone in the frame while handling your video calls. Unfortunately, this webcam supports a maximum resolution of 720p, does not support Zoom or GoToMeeting.

Although it’s the best smart TV webcam in it’s class, the Facebook Portal TV is not recommended to those who’re paranoid about Facebook monitoring your every step.

#2 – Logitech Brio 4K

Best 4K Smart TV Webcam

Best Webcams to Use With a Smart TV

The Logitech Brio 4K is the best 4K smart TV webcam in the world. Not only does it support 4K video recording, it is even compatible with Windows, macOS and ChromeOS. It’s an expensive TV webcam so unless you truly require 4K clarity, I wouldn’t recommend you buying this as you can get the same features and capabilities from other webcams on this list.

This smart TV webcam comes equipped with a 5x digital zoom and “RightLight” that automatically adjusts the lighting for you so you don’t look weird on camera.

While using the camera in 4K mode, you will only be able to stream at 30FPS, whereas if you drop the quality to 1080p, you will be able to get up to 60 frames per second.

In order for the Brio to always get the right picture, Logitech has equipped it with an adjustable Field of View that provides you with options such as 65, 78 or 90 degrees.

It’s fitted with dual omnidirectional microphones and comes with noise cancellation so no background noise gets captured on your video calls.

#3 — Aukey PC-W3 1080p

Best Budget TV Webcam

Best Webcams to Use With a Smart TV

For those on a budget, I give to you the Aukey PC-W3. This webcam is not only compatible with your smart TV but even Macs and Windows laptops/desktops. While Auckey is well known for their portable USB-C chargers, this 1080p webcam is a first for them.

It records video in 1080p at 30FPS and uses built-in color correction to ensure the video quality is top-notch.

The PC-W3 uses two microphones to enhance the audio quality and it comes equipped with noise-cancelling capabilities that filters out any external noise.

You can position this webcam by using the stand, clip or mount on or near your TV based on where you’re handling your video calls.

This webcam is compatible with nearly every type of video/conferencing software available such as Zoom or Google Meets so you don’t have to worry about facing issues while in the middle of a meeting.

#4 — Septekon Streaming Web Camera

Best Plug & Play TV Webcam

Best Webcams to Use With a Smart TV

It’s always good to have a plug and play webcam around, this reduces the time you would have spent setting it up on your TV. The Septekon webcam does just that and more. It does not come with a privacy shutter, but it does cater to those looking for high-quality video recording and noise cancellation.

This smart TV webcam is multi-functional and can be plugged into either your TV or laptop and handle all your video calls and meetings.

One remarkable feature of the Septekon is that you can rotate the camera up to 360-degrees or you can tilt it up or down by 30-degrees to get you or your loved ones in frame without moving the TV around.

It’s capable of recording video at 1080p and is equipped with dual stereo microphones that help reduce external noise so your calls are clear at all times.

One thing to not is that you will not be able to remove the mount for the camera as it’s permanently fixed to it. The only thing you can do is either rotate the camera or tilt it vertically.

#5 — Logitech C920s HD Pro

Best Multi-Purpose Smart TV Webcam

Logitech is one of the best brands when it comes to technical and computer related gear. Their second smart TV webcam to be featured on this list is the C920s HD Pro which is a 1080p camera that has a frame rate of 30FPS and is more than sufficient for any video call or conference.

When it’s not in use, you can simply throw on the detachable privacy cover which prevents the camera from recording or capturing anything without your knowledge. The C920s HD Pro also comes with automatic light correction so you can easily use the camera in dimly lit rooms and still have a clear image on screen.

While this camera looks cool and delivers clear video quality all the time, it does have a few drawbacks, such as the mount that can not be removed and that the cable is hardly 3-feet in length.

All-in-all, the Logitech C920s HD Pro is a great camera to use with your smart TV and it’s affordable so you won’t really have to shell out a lot.

#6 — Qtniue Webcam

Best TV Webcam for Amateurs

Best Webcams to Use With a Smart TV

The Qtniue webcam is a basic device that can be plugged into your smart TV and is on this list mainly because it comes with 1080p video recording capabilities and a privacy shutter that blocks the camera when it’s not in use.

This webcam can rotate up to 360-degrees so you can easily adjust it to your liking. It comes with an adjustable mount that allows you to connect this webcam on the top of any display such as, TV, laptop or even desktop monitor.

It is designed to be anti-slip and scratch-proof so that you don’t experience shakes while in the middle of a call and so that this webcam does not get damaged if it falls.

If you’re looking for something that focuses in with a Wide-angle Field of View, then this camera will do just that. It uses the 95-degree Field of View to crop out sides of the room that you don’t want shown in the video.

While there are not many issues with this camera, it does prove to be troublesome when connected to a Mac or Windows device and would request you to actively disable the primary webcam on your computer.

#7 — Logitech StreamCam 1080p

Most Versatile TV Webcam

Best Webcams to Use With a Smart TV

The StreamCam 1080p is considered to be the most versatile smart TV webcam out there as it can be rotated vertically or horizontally to capture the right angle for your recording. It’s a popular webcam and is currently used by gamers and business folk around the world.

This webcam offers 1080p video recording at 60FPS that uses smart auto-focus which is pretty remarkable as that  feature is not available on most webcams today.

It’s a great webcam to own, but it does cost a bomb considering you’re only getting 1080p quality and not 4K. But if you’re an amateur gamer or someone looking for a webcam that can be fitted or adjusted to your liking, then the StreamCam 1080p is the one for you.

#8 — Razer Kiyo 1080p

Best Gaming Webcam for Smart TV’s

Best Webcams to Use With a Smart TV

Created by one of the best gaming accessory companies in the market, the Kiyo 1080p from Razer is the best gaming webcam that you can buy to stream all your games or to handle video calls.

It comes equipped with a built-in light ring that is capable of providing you with a color temperature of 5600K and the cool part is that this webcam does not have to rely on Razer’s Synapse application to manage the brightness.

The Kiyo is a compact and portable webcam that you can fold and carry along with you wherever you go. It  comes with an included mount and can even be positioned on a tripod.

A drawback of the Kiyo is that it tends to capture background audio as well and this  is not something you would like to have if you’re an avid gamer. Also, the Kiyo can not be detached from the USB cable so you would have to figure out a way to tie the cable up when you take the camera with you.

Buyers Guide

While choosing the right webcam for your smart TV, there are a few factors to consider.

  • You will first have to make sure that your smart TV is running on Android 9 or higher.
  • Check the product specifications of the webcam you like and see if it’s compatible with the TV OS you’re running at home.
  • Find a smart TV webcam that comes with at least 720p resolution, or if you prefer then go for one that comes with 1080p resolution. These are basic standards today so refrain from something that offers HD or Full HD.
  • Make sure that the webcam comes with a minimum of two built-in microphones, this will allow the device to capture clear audio.
  • Another thing to consider is the ability to cancel out background noises.
  • Finally, it’s a good idea to pick up a webcam that offers features like added lighting or different mountable options. Versatility is important in a webcam today.

Takeaway

The best webcams to use with a smart TV is the Facebook Portal TV, that’s if you’re not too keen on privacy. It’s a great camera to own and considering that it’s both affordable and comes pre-equipped with Amazon Alexa, I don’t think you may find a better webcam for your smart TV.
