How to connect speakers to a PS4 using an Optical Audio Cable

This is the way Sony intended you to connect speakers to your PS4 so it is very straightforward. This method only works for the original PS4 and the PS4 Pro. The PS4 Slim doesn’t have an optical audio port so this method will not work with it.

To connect speakers to your PS4 using an Optical audio cable, follow these steps.

Step 1 You will need an optical audio cable so get one from online or at stores with electrical components too. If your speaker doesn’t have an optical audio jack, then buy an optical-to-RCA adapter.

How to use a 3.5mm audio cable to connect speakers to a PS4

People often think that connecting an audio cable to a PS4 is a tough job, but in reality, it is not, it is simple and fast. You won’t be directly connecting the audio cable to the PS4 but rather to the PS4 controller. You can connect a 3.5 mm audio cable to your PS4’s DualShock controller to get a seamless audio connection.

This is an easy way to connect speakers to your PS4. This method will work with all PS4 models which also makes it the most popular way speakers are connected to PS4s. For this all you need are, an HDMI Cable, an output monitor with a 3.5 mm audio jack, or a TV with HDMI support, PS4, and speakers.

Step 1 Turn on your PS4 and connect it to your TV/Monitor using an HDMI cable.

Step 2 Now set up the speakers. For this, you can connect them to the monitor using the 3.5mm audio jack or you can use the 3.5 mm audio jack on the TV. Does the PS4 have an AUX port?

Yes, the PS4 has an AUX port at the back of it but it is not for audio. Most people including me when the PS4 first launched thought that the AUX port on it was for audio output but that’s not the case. The AUX was designed to work with the PlayStation Camera, which sadly never got famous enough. So you can’t connect speakers to the AUX port on the PS4.

Can I use USB speakers on PS4?

Yes, you can use USB speakers on PS4. You can connect any type of speaker you want to your PS4 as long as it has a 3.5mm port. You need the 3.5mm port so that you can connect the speakers to your PS4 DualShock controller. You can also connect any speaker to your Tv/Monitor and use your PS4 with it.
