How to connect speakers to a PS4 using an Optical Audio Cable

This is the way Sony intended you to connect speakers to your PS4 so it is very straightforward. This method only works for the original PS4 and the PS4 Pro. The PS4 Slim doesn’t have an optical audio port so this method will not work with it.

To connect speakers to your PS4 using an Optical audio cable, follow these steps.

Step 1 You will need an optical audio cable so get one from online or at stores with electrical components too. If your speaker doesn’t have an optical audio jack, then buy an optical-to-RCA adapter.

People often think that connecting an audio cable to a PS4 is a tough job, but in reality, it is not, it is simple and fast. You won’t be directly connecting the audio cable to the PS4 but rather to the PS4 controller. You can connect a 3.5 mm audio cable to your PS4’s DualShock controller to get a seamless audio connection.
