With music streaming services like Spotify around, you gain access to millions of songs at your fingertips. These vary in genre and while most of us pay for premium features like offline playback or a change in audio quality there are some who are still unable to download Spotify on their smart device.
The ability to download Spotify depends on a couple of factors considering Spotify as a brand is still growing. There are some countries that still haven’t received access to the Spotify servers and hence would not be able to download or play music on their PC/ Smart Devices.
With over 25 million songs and 2 billion playlists on Spotify, it’s no wonder why everyone wants to create an account.
But if you’re not the kind of person who’s not willing to wait for Spotify to release in your country, then you’re at the right place because what I’m going to take you through is why Spotify can’t be downloaded and I’ll share how you can enjoy their services if you’ve been dying to.

Why Can’t I Download Spotify?
Even with streaming services like YouTube Music and Apple Music around, people seem to be inclined to download Spotify and when they can’t, all hell breaks loose.
Countries like South Africa, Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon have only started to receive access to Spotify.
So, I would not ask you to worry about whether Spotify can be downloaded or not. Instead, you can read on and find out how you can download Spotify even though you receive errors like; “Spotify is Currently not Available in your Country” or “Check your Network Connection”.
Let’s take a look at a few other reasons why you would not be able to download Spotify.
User Location

Spotify was founded in 2006 at Stockholm, Sweden but it was not until 2011 when it entered the American market that it gained popularity. Ever since then Spotify has been growing at a phenomenal pace by setting up shop in numerous countries around the world.
However, there are some countries that still do not have access to stream from Spotify. If you’re faced with a screen on the web browser that’s similar to the one pictured below then it’s evident that the country you’re residing in is still yet to receive Spotify’s services.

While this is the case with thousands of prospective users, there are ways to get around this hiccup.
VPNs can help you spoof your location so you can access and play music via Spotify.
These are currently the only countries where you can sign up for Spotify, if your country is not listed then you can continue through the article for the Troubleshooting section.

Basic System Requirements

Spotify is a cross platform streaming service and caters to mobile devices and PC/Macs. It is also available on other devices such as Sound systems, Televisions, Car Stereo Systems and more.
Spotify is available in two versions, the Spotify App and the Spotify Web Player. The Spotify Web Player is accessible to those using one of the following browsers.
Whereas, to download Spotify on your PC, Mac or Smartphone, your device will need to run on these operating systems (bare minimum).
Remember, if your smartphone or laptop runs on lower versions of these operating systems then it’s best to either update your device to the latest version or buy a new device that runs on the latest OS.
Operating System | Version |
Android | Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and above |
iOS | Apple iOS 12 and above |
Windows | Windows 7 and above |
Mac | macOS X 10.10 and above |
Internet Connection

As this service relies on the internet to function, you will not be able to stream or access playlists on Spotify unless there’s strong Wi-Fi or your Mobile Data has been topped up.
There are the off chances that Spotify could be blocked from your ISP primarily because it may not be available in your country just yet. Again, you can resort to using a good VPN service to connect to Spotify and play music all day long.
There are applications available on third party sites that claim they’re unlocked and modified to work in any region, I would not suggest resorting to these applications if they can carry bugs which will infect your device/PC or Mac.
The other off-chance is that if there are too many devices connected to the same Wi-Fi source, you may not get the adequate bandwidth to login or play music on Spotify.
If you’re one to face these issues and can’t download Spotify because of your location, you can try these simple but effective hacks.
Download Spotify for iOS Users

As you would have expected, the process to download Spotify on your iOS device is a bit complicated but not impossible. Follow these steps and you should be on your way to listening to some of the best music from around the world.
- Start by opening the “Settings App” on your iPad or iPhone.
- Proceed to tap on your “Name” to open the Apple ID options.
- Now locate and tap on “iTunes & App Store” and then click on your Apple ID
- Click on “View ID” and Authorize with your Touch ID
- Tapping on Country/Region gives you the ability to change your location and gain access to iTunes & App Store for the region that has Spotify access.
While you’re at this point, you’d be asked to fill up a payment form with a billing address of that particular country. If you’re unable to use a valid billing address then you can resort to an option like “Fake Address Generator” to create a fake address.
Now that you’re logged into your App Store, search for Spotify and click on Get to download it on your iPhone or iPad. Once Spotify has been downloaded, in order to create an account, you’d need a VPN to do so.
Download a VPN for your iPhone or iPad (if you already have it, launch the VPN and turn on the appropriate location) Proceed to create an account on Spotify and once done you can stream music for free for up to 1 month.
Post that you’d have to follow the process again or switch the country. It depends on you.

- While your VPN is running, create an account on the Spotify App.
- Now you can stream music on Spotify for free.
There is a possibility that you may get locked out of the account after 14 days. If this happens, switch on your VPN and log in again.
You can decide if you want to remain logged in with the Free account or if you’re looking to download music to play when there’s no network you can opt for the Premium subscription.

Similar to downloading Spotify on your Android device, the Spotify Desktop App can be downloaded by using a VPN and you can do so by checking out these steps

Download Spotify on PS4

If you’re unable to download Spotify on your PS4, you will have to check if your Play Station is updated to the latest firmware. Once you have installed the latest PS firmware, you will have to restart your PlayStation and Spotify should be available to download.
Another problem faced by many PlayStation users is that they’re unable to view the Spotify app in the download list. If this is the case then you will have to re-login to the PlayStation store and try downloading the app again. You can also cross check the download list to see if the app has been added so you can install it manually.

How do I fix Spotify download error?
There are quite a few things you can do to fix the Spotify download error. You can cross check to see if your internet still has data, if your device has the right amount of storage space, if you’re using multiple devices or if you have too many pending downloads in your Play/App Store. Conclusion
By now you would have been able to successfully download and listen to music on Spotify even if your neighbors or friends don’t have access to it. It’s always a good idea to wait for the original version to be launched in your country than to download modified versions of the same application.
As a suggestion, try alternate services like YouTube, Google Music or Apple Music as alternate options if Spotify is not available in your country. They’re great platforms and provide you with an amazing collection of music and videos.
